Report: AC Milan contact Ancelotti over managerial return

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have reportedly initiated contact with Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti over a possible return to the club.

Reports from German outlet SportBild suggest that the Italian could be sacked as Bayern boss this afternoon after the Bavarians lost 3-0 in Paris last night.

Bayern have endured a difficult start to the season, winning four of their first six Bundesliga games and sitting in third place in the table.

Meanwhile, Vincenzo Montella’s future with Milan is up in the air after Marco Fassone blasted the team’s performance following the defeat at Sampdoria on Sunday.

Goal.com and Yahoo! Sports reporter Mootaz Chehade claims that Milan have “made first contacts” with Ancelotti about a possible return.

The 58-year-old managed the Rossoneri between 2001-2009, winning an impressive eight trophies (including two Champions Leagues) and cementing his place as one of the legendary coaches of Milan.

With huge games coming up against Roma and Inter, Montella will have to start finding results quickly or run the risk of being replaced by a club icon.
