Report: Milan dealt blow as Valencia turn to Spurs man instead of Castillejo

By Isak Möller -

Samu Castillejo has been linked with a move away from AC Milan as soon as the transfer window opened this month. So far, however, no transfer has materialised and further complications have emerged.

The winger has played just 122 minutes for Milan this season and it’s clear that he wants more playing. With a contract expiring in 2023, which the Rossoneri won’t renew, a move is thus a good option for both parties this season.

Valencia have been talked about as the most likely destination for Castillejo over the last two days. However, as reported by Matteo Moretto, the Spanish side are also in talks with Tottenham over Bryan Gil and an agreement is close.

Gil is currently ahead of Castillejo, therefore, and this was also confirmed by Sky Italia (via MilanNews). That report also stated that deadline day could be decisive for the future of the Rossoneri No.7. We will have a wait a little longer, in other words.

  1. Milan should learn to freeze out players and stop this good guy behavior. Players come and don’t want to renew and piss on the club and the club cannot do the same???

  2. Well, you can’t blame anyone. Some like Castillejo was always going to be a tough sell. Valencia is certainly not blind. Well, we may just have to live with him on the team, and trust him to pull a one-off anytime he comes off the bench.

  3. Unfortunately Castillejo plays as if he is not in a team. He plays individually. Unfortuately it won’t be easy to sell him.

  4. I don’t understand, how bad can this guy be in training? Is he kicking the ball in the wrong goal? If not…Play him. He can’t be that much worse than Alexis and Messias.

    1. His passes always let him down, worse in the final third, fragile like Diaz or maybe worse. That’s your answer, just in case you haven’t watched him play before. He has had his brilliant moments though, but you can count them on one hand.

  5. He’s a pretty good player, but inherited, not selected by Pioli. You gotta play him once in awhile to keep other teams interested. Stop playing Bakayoka.

  6. Its not how bad or good he is

    Its about his salary

No one will pay him 1.5m we pay him now, so for all the talk how he wants to play or loves the club, he wants money for nothing

Renew Ismael and Leao so they dont get scared and yes, just freeze the guy
