Report: Pobega one of four midfielders on Bologna’s shortlist – the situation

By Isak Möller -

Tommaso Pobega has been linked with a move ever since the start of the summer and a few clubs have expressed an interest, including Bologna. According to a report, the AC Milan man is one of four midfielders on their shortlist.

Pobega missed a good chunk of last season due to an injury he sustained in December of last year, forced to sit on the sidelines for 27 games. He has made a few appearances this pre-season but a move appears to be on the cards for him.

According to Il Resto del Carlino, as cited by Radio Rossonera, Bologna have four midfielders on their shortlist:  Pobega, Marco Brescianini (Frosinone), Cesare Casadei (Chelsea) and Giulio Maggiore (Salernitana). They only intend to sign one of these, it should be noted.

At the age of 25, the feeling is that Pobega needs consistent playing time if he wants his career to go anywhere but at Milan, he will truly struggle with this. On an interesting note, should Bologna move for Brescianini instead, then the Rossoneri will be watching on closely as they have a 50% resale clause.

As for Pobega’s price tag, it’s believed that Milan could ask for around €15m to part ways with the Primavera product.

  1. Poor pobega won his one and only trophy at Milan. I think there is a good midfielder in there, not a wc midfielder, but a solid one. We are never gonna see it at Milan tho. I don’t think Bologna is the right fit for him either

  2. Bologna is interested in the great talent Casadei?
Gotta give credit where credit is due. Inter has been doing a great job cashing in on average but overhyped talents from their Primavera.
    Balloteli sold for 30 mil.
Zaniolo and Santon exchanged for Radja Naingolan.
Pinamonti sold to Sassuolo for 20 million, BTW they are in serie B.
Casadei sold to Chelsea for 15 mil.
Cashed in on time before other teams can realize what they are buying.

      1. As I said, cash in before other teams realize how “good” the player is.
15 million for a player who played zero seconds in the first team. Masterful.

  3. “As for Pobega’s price tag, it’s believed that Milan could ask for around €15m to part ways with the Primavera product.”

Again with these absurd valuations. You did the same with Junior Messias, he went for €3 million. Pobega is a €5 million player at best.

      1. Brescianini was a starter in Serie A last term. Pobega without his minutes the prior season at Torino, would be valued even less. So appearance is the main difference even tho I believe Brescianini is also more talented.

    1. Also other teams do that to us by starting with seemingly high or even absurd valuations.

I’d rather we start at €15mn then compromise to say €10mn make the buying side feel like they’ve got a discount 😆

      1. They tried to move on Pobega last season, but couldn’t. They should have taken the €5 million or whatever it was Torino offered. Pobega lacks the athleticism needed for the way we play. He’d be okay in Spain.

    1. It’s not like he’ll be happy to be there just to fill the list nor will Milan be ok paying him just for that. At this stage of his career ,he’ll need to play. And this season it’s looking like we’ll barely see him even sent to warmup if he stays.

  4. Half the clubs in Serie A shortlisted Pobega but no one is really coming forward. Maybe the 15m valuation is putting them off. Drop it. He sits on the bench all season and no club would even shortlist him!
