Romano: The truth about Bakayoko-Milan and the background on Rangnick’s decision

By Isak Möller -

The first piece had to be Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and now Milan are working hard to reinforce the squad with some targeted signings. In addition to Sandro Tobali, the Rossoneri are also working on Tiemoue Bakayoko, a report claims.

According to Fabrizio Romano in his latest piece for Calciomercato.com, Milan have clear ideas on the market: they want to sign Bakayoko as well as Tonali. As the latter is getting closer to a move, contacts have intensified with Chelsea as well.

As for Tonali, the agreement with Brescia on the loan with an option to buy must be defined. The same applies in the negotiations with Chelsea, as they are demanding a total fee of €30-32m including the cash part to loan out Bakayoko until June 2021.

The operation isn’t done yet, but the player’s will is strong and this has worked in favour of Milan. Had Ralf Rangnick arrived, as the report continues, then Tonali would have been a priority but not Bakayoko. Today, they are proceeding with both.
