Saelemaekers remembers 2-0 win against Atalanta: “We weren’t in the best position”

By Isak Möller -

On Sunday evening, AC Milan will take on Atalanta away from home in the seventh round of Serie A. The Rossoneri have good memories from this fixture, as they qualified for the Champions League thanks to a 2-0 win in Bergamo.

Of course, Stefano Pioli’s men will be hoping to replicate that performance tomorrow as they want to continue their unbeaten streak in the league. Currently, they are on 16 points and only Napoli are ahead of them, with 18 points.

In an interview with Mediaset, which was transcribed by MilanNews, Alexis Saelemaekers shared his thoughts on what was a perfect performance last time out. They were the underdogs heading into the game but eventually came out the winning side.

“We weren’t in the best position when we went to Bergamo, but we went with the mentality we had all of last season and we proved it once again and we won. We wanted to qualify for the Champions League,” he stated.

As said, the Rossoneri have started this season very well and the goal is to continue on this path. Saelemaekers is expected to play from start and his contribution on the right-hand side will be important as always.
