Today marks the official beginning of the 2023-24 campaign as the AC Milan squad report for day one of preseason, with president Paolo Scaroni preaching the importance of unity.
As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan head into the new season with head coach Stefano Pioli enjoying plenty of trust but also in need of a bounce-back – at least domestically – compared to the previous campaign.
Pioli will make decisions on and off the pitch, he will be increasingly involved in the transfer window, he will have more responsibilities and pressure, but it is a challenge that he is ready for and will begin to get to grips with today.
Club president Paolo Scaroni will be at Milanello, as well as the CEO Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada, the chief scout who will have a lot of say regarding who the Rossoneri sign. Scaroni spoke to the paper ahead of the squad reconvening.
“Starting over with a new challenge is always an emotion. I see great enthusiasm from everyone, with unity of purpose and common objectives. I too will be there to wish Mr. Pioli and to the players who have already returned,” he said.
Milan fans continue to back the team having sold all of the 41,500 season tickets made available by the club a month and a half ahead of last season.
“I’m happy that our fans can embrace their team again, and I’m impressed by the great response to the season ticket campaign, the best in recent years. We really have wonderful supporters,” Scaroni added.
Milan will step up their preparations later this month when they fly halfway across the world to face Juventus, Real Madrid and Barcelona in three friendlies spread across California and Neveda.
Real the full itinerary for those games here, plus the schedule for day one of preseason here.
“Let’s continue on our growth path, all together. It will be an intense period of preparation. It is a very important tour [to the USA], both because we are the most loved Italian team in the United States and because we will meet world-class teams.”
Yeah… Blah…blah…blah…. Suckeroni, say what ever you want to say.
