GdS: ‘Scudetto Devils’ – the four weapons Pioli will rely upon against Atalanta

AC Milan are just four points away from capturing their first league title in 11 years but they must aim to get three of them against a team they have not beaten at home since 2014.

La Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) – which has ‘Scudetto Devils’ as a front page headline – takes a look into the next match against Atalanta scheduled for Sunday at 18:00 CEST. La Dea are fighting for a place in Europe and therefore will arrive at the San Siro with great motivation, and with some positive recent results behind them in this fixture.

Head coach Stefano Pioli will once again rely on his most important players such as Theo Hernandez, whose runs inside will be fundamental as during the 3-2 away win in Bergamo he caused confusion by practically acting as a midfielder.

In addition to the Frenchman, the speed and dribbling of Rafael Leao will also be crucial as he has been the absolute protagonist of the recent Milan victories against Fiorentina and Hellas Verona together with Sandro Tonali.

In attack, the starting centre-forward will once again be Olivier Giroud, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic ready to lend a hand as a substitute. The Frenchman has scored many big goals this season and hopes to return to scoring against Atalanta after two games without one.

In addition to his players on the pitch, Pioli will also focus heavily on the push of the fans as San Siro will in fact be sold out for a match that could bring Milan even closer to their Scudetto dream.

  1. As great as Krunic was at the 10 for us vs Verona, I have a good feeling about Kessie there vs Atalanta — he has always raised his level of play versus La Dea (in the match earlier this year, last year that final match we won 2-0 to clinch 2nd place and Champions League he was MOTM; and over and over again vs Atalanta). I hope he gets the start this weekend.
