Another brilliant month for Milan in Serie A has passed with the Rossoneri joint top of the table alongside Napoli, and it’s time to rank the best performers.
Unfortunately, the team didn’t perform as well on the European stage, but considering the lack of experience it is way more important for Milan to do good domestically and establish themselves as a powerhouse.
There were a lot of players that stepped up and a lot of games when Milan came back and showed character which is a great for the team’s overall maturity. Here are the top three players of the month.
3. Ismael Bennacer – Average rating: 6.60
The Algerian had a rather slow start to the season, but he has worked hard to get back to his previous high levels. Bennnacer managed to be a crucial part of this Milan team as he was dominating the midfield in all the games he played including being the best player against Atletico Madrid and Porto in the Champions League. It is a real joy to see the former Empoli man pick up the pace after having some injury troubles last season.
2. Sandro Tonali – Average rating: 6.63
The Italian has been on a completely different level since the start of the current season and was the Player of the Month for August. This time around he’s gotten a bit more competition from his fellow team-mates in the midfield, but still managed to pick up the second spot after yet another encouraging month.
1. Franck Kessie – Average rating: 6.75
After all the saga around his contract, Kessie has not been on his usual high level since the start of this season with Tonali and Bennacer stealing the show. The Ivorian, however, reacted well to the competition as he now seems more like the players we are all used to watching in the middle of the park.
We saw great work rate and composure from Kessie as he managed to score a crucial penalty against Roma as well and he earns himself the Player of the Month for October.

Kessie man of the month? I do not think so …. Kessie has, compared to himself, underperformed after the Olympics … The man of the month would have been Tonali who has developed tremendously since the season started!
