Shevchenko reveals one thing that ‘can make the difference’ in Milan’s favour vs. Atalanta

Milan are facing a tough task as they will take on Atalanta at Gewiss Stadium tomorrow evening, with a spot in the Champions League on the line. In fact, the Rossoneri most likely need to come away with all three points.

It has been a season of ups and downs for Stefano Pioli and his men, now at risk of finishing in 5th place after ending the first half of the season as the leaders. Missing out on a top-four finish, therefore, would be a disaster for the club.

In an interview with Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanNews), which was published in today’s edition, Milan legend Andriy Shevchenko spoke about the game. Although Atalanta are in good form, he revealed one thing that could work in the Rossoneri’s favour.

“Milan have to face a very tough match in Bergamo. I don’t know how it will end, what I do know is that it’s not all to be thrown away. A good season cannot be forgotten. Advice? Breathe, think, be determined. And score goals.

“The factors in favour of Milan? First of all, the Coppa Italia final. Milan had a week to prepare and Atalanta have a costly type of game. High press, one-on-one marking: it’s a team that puts energy into every game and at the end of the season, a few more days of recovery can make the difference. Atalanta spent a lot against Juve: it’s one thing in favour of Milan,” he stated.

Hopefully, the Rossoneri will put in a Juve-esque performance as they certainly need it to come away with all three points.
