Sky Germany: Milan in battle with Leipzig for centre-back as player has said yes to both

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan appear to be firmly in a battle with Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the race for Mohamed Simakan, at least according to reports from Germany.

We reported earlier in the week that discussions are ongoing for Simakan and that the deal could be done at any moment, while in his latest update Pietro Balzano Prota told us contacts with Strasbourg and Toulouse for Simakan and Kone are expected during the day.

According to a report from Sky Germany’s Max Bielefeld, both Milan and Leipzig are still in the race for Simakan. The player is happy with the idea of joining either club and has not yet made a decision, but has essentially given his approval to both.

The big difference is that Milan want him now, while Leipzig would let him play for another six months in Strasbourg, then in July he would arrive and be the ideal replacement for Dayot Upamecano.

Leipzig have not made an offer to Strasbourg yet, Bielefeld adds, but they are aware of his price tag. Most importantly, they have convinced the player.
