Source claims Chelsea and Milan are ‘studying’ €75m swap deal involving Brazilian

AC Milan and Premier League side Chelsea are ‘studying’ the ideal of a possible swap deal involving two midfielders, according to a report.

According to transfer source Louis Girardi on Twitter, the Rossoneri and the west London side are thinking of the possibility of a swap deal which would see Lucas Paqueta move to England and Tiemoue Bakayoko come the other way.

Bakayoko spent time on loan at Milan last season and became a fan favourite, though the club did not exercise their option to buy and he was subsequently loaned back to Monaco last summer.

The Frenchman made the shock admission last month that he prefers Milan to parent club Chelsea during a video interview last month, and il Corriere dello Sport reported earlier on Tuesday that he would gladly return to Milan.

However, Monaco will have to pay around €40million to Chelsea to make his loan move permanent, while the 25-year-old earns €3m net annual salary.

Paqueta meanwhile has been the centre of a storm recently having lost his spot in the starting XI with the switch in formation by head coach Stefano Pioli.

The former Flamengo man – who arrived a year ago in a €35m deal – asked not to be called up for last month’s trip to Brescia after it was reported by numerous outlets that he was treated for stress and anxiety.

Despite rumours of interest from Paris Saint-Germain, it emerged late in the window through outlet TMW that Milan had in fact offered Fiorentina the chance to sign Paqueta until the end of the season, but he ended up remaining.

It now remains to be seen if Chelsea and Milan can agree on a mutually beneficial exchange involving the two players, who have a combined worth of €75m based on the aforementioned fees.
