Spalletti on Napoli’s win over Milan: “If someone as capable as Pioli says that”

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan failed to keep their unbeaten run alive prior to the international break as Napoli came away with all three points from San Siro. Luciano Spalletti has shared his thoughts on what was a great win for them.

The Partenopei opened the scoring in the game thanks to a Matteo Politano penalty, followed by an equaliser by Olivier Giroud. Giovanni Simeone then made the most of an opportunity to make it 2-1 and thus secured the three points.

Speaking at his press conference ahead of Napoli-Torino tomorrow, Spalletti spoke about the win against Milan and what it means for the team. He stated that the analysis of Pioli after the game gave even more value to their win.

“In Milan, if someone as capable as Pioli says they played a great match, with many chances, I can only agree. And this gives value to the victory. If you beat a Milan that did many beautiful things, it means we did them too,” he said as cited by MilanNews.

Milan will be looking to get back to winning ways tomorrow, taking on Empoli away from home, as they don’t want the gap to Napoli to increase. The Scudetto race could be an interesting one this season, indeed.

      1. Exactly! He’s just been sarcastic. Napoli has also started the seasons well. Not surprised…. We’ll see who’s stronger as the season goes on
