Spreadsheet paints worrying picture as Milan could replicate 2021/22 injury disaster

AC Milan have struggled with quite a lot of injuries at the start of this season and the situation hasn’t improved over the international break. As thing stand, they are on the same horror path as last season.

The Rossoneri had a significant amount of injuries at the start of the 2021/22 campaign and their Champions League adventure really took a hit as a result. The same could happen once again, as highlighted in a brilliant summary by @furgeTX.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Alessandro Florenzi are the two long-term injuries, expected back only after the World Cup break. Then you have the curious cases of Ante Rebic and Divock Origi, who both have been in and out of the squads thus far due to due to a back hernia and a muscle inflammation respectively.

Rade Krunic had a long absence recently, missing six games, while Sandro Tonali got lucky as his injury occurred during pre-season (only missing one game). The likes of Mike Maignan, Theo Hernandez and Davide Calabria got injured in the last week and more updates are needed on them.

Maignan will be out for a month, set to miss five games or so, while Theo is working hard to recover as soon as possible. Calabria’s tests ruled out an injury but he might not start against Empoli.

In short, Milan have the same amount of injuries now compared to the same point in time last season (12). There is also the same amount of muscular injuries (8) and the most worrying point is that last season, there were an additional 12 injuries between now and the end of October.

  1. Same injury path as last season… Still won the scudetto, hopefully we can be strong and make 2 important transfers in the winter 🤔
