Tuttosport: Milan fans to get first glimpse of Leao under Fonseca against Barcelona

Rafael Leao is expected to make his first appearance for AC Milan this pre-season as they will take on Barcelona next week. He missed the game against Real Madrid but, according to a report, he will now get some minutes.

The Portuguese winger joined the squad in the US a few days before the Real Madrid game, which Milan won 1-0, and he thus wasn’t called up for the clash. However, as reported by today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), he will be there for the Barcelona game.

He’s not expected to play from the first minute, it should be noted, but it’s very likely that we will see him off the bench in Baltimore. As such, it will be his first outing under the compatriot Paulo Fonseca’s guidance, with many fans hoping that the No.10 can explode.

The game is scheduled for 01:30 on Wednesday for us Europeans, while it will kick off at 19:30 local time. A big crowd is expected, as has been the theme during this pre-season tour, and Fonseca will be hoping to make it 3/3 wins in the US.

As the Barcelona game is the final friendly game, it’s worth mentioning that the 2024-25 season opener is scheduled for August 17 and Milan will face Torino at San Siro.
