Tuttosport: Giampaolo in pole for Udinese job – why Milan can smile

By Isak Möller -

In recent days, Marco Giampaolo has been linked with Udinese, who are currently sitting in 14th place in the standings. Should he take the job for next season, then AC Milan will have something to smile about.

The Italian manager, who was sacked back in October, is still under contract with the Rossoneri until 2021. Therefore, they would save some money if he takes another job for next season, which is a very probable outcome.

According to Tuttosport (via Milanlive.it), Milan would save around €2m in wages if Giampaolo decides to join a new club. The manager is described as a ‘popular profile’ at the Udinese headquarters, although they are also following other managers.

With a reputation to save, though, it’s possible that he will go back to coaching even if the Udinese hypothesis doesn’t pan out. As mentioned, it will be something for Milan to smile about, after the fiasco at the start of the season.
