Tuttosport: Ibrahimovic could speak with Leao and Theo after Lazio incident – the situation

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan are not going into the international break with the calmest of climates surrounding them, after going winless in their first three games and with an incident at the Stadio Olimpico dominating the news.

Tuttosport (via Calciomercato.com) this morning talk about absence of Zlatan Ibrahimovic which has caused a stir in a particularly tense moment. He did not accompany the team on the trip to Rome because he was on vacation, a situation that has caused some fans to ask questions.

Milan are not expected to fine Rafael Leao and Theo Hernandez for failing to join the rest of the team during the cooling break after the 2-2 goal, but an intervention is expected from Ibrahimovic and a slap on the wrist could arrive.

The Swede will probably have a discussion with the left-sided duo when they from their respective international commitments, to let them know about how their actions were perceived and the importance of remaining united.

In the meantime, Fonseca has washed his hands of the issue: “There is no problem and I think Theo has already explained. We must not create any problems, this week I spoke with the players who accepted the choice.

“There is no problem, I was focused and I did not see that they were there but I think Theo explained why. We do not create problems because there are none, the response of the players was good and we must not create problems when there are none. I do not run away with excuses and at this moment there is no problem.”

Milan see the matter as a closed case in terms of disciplinary action, while waiting for Ibrahimovic’s possible intervention upon his return from vacation, but the situation still needs to be monitored, also in relation to the possible reactions of the rest of the team to Theo and Leao’s gesture.

  1. Scaroni: “I’ll pack Leao’s bags”.
    Zlatan: “Théo is happy.”
Théo and Leao play without motivation.
    Fans around here: 😮

  2. Someone needs to have words with Zlatan about the complete bulls up of a transfer window and hiring Fonseca. Hey zlats says Theo and leao, who the hell is this guy you hired?????

  3. Zlatan hasn’t been in Milan during these difficult time because he was in VACATION.

What a great example for everyone to put yourself first in difficult times that you participated in its making.

    1. So… The babysitter Zlatan is away and the kids start misbehaving? Yeah, Leao really has matured and is the leader Milan needs. He’s becoming father soon too. Will be be acting like a father or a child? And Theo? I have no words…

      1. Man who decided to appoint Zlatan to have a presence at Milanello and a relay between the team and the management? And who decided to make Leao the leader of this team? Spoiler, the erratic management.

        1. With you, everything is the management’s fault. Even every morning when you wake up and open the curtains, you’re like “F*** the management, it’s raining again!!!” or “F*** the management, it’s too hot!!!” 🙂

Yeah. We get it. You hate the management. The management decided to make Leao the leader? Leao didn’t want to be the leader? He didn’t request the #10-shirt and the leader-status that comes along with the shirt? Sure, it was the management. Or at least they put the ideas in Leao’s head at the bare minimum. Am I right?

But I guess blaming the management makes your life easier. I mean, I’m undecided on what to think about the “cooling-break” incident. But for you, it’s dead simple: THE MANAGEMENT!!! THE MANAGEMENT IS TO BLAME!!! THEO & LEAO ARE INNOCENT. THEY’RE THE VICTIMS!!!

I wonder though… When RedBird sells the company and let’s assume the buyer won’t be a soulless enterprise/company. Will that upset your life? Where do you get the energy from that moment on? Where to aim your anger? Will actually have something positive to write after that? Maaan… Can’t wait for that to happen. I’ll bet you’ll burst from all that happiness.

          1. Maybe it’s the ego speaking. Most fans rooting for Redbird when it was evident since last year that it’s a mess can’t acknowledge that they were wrong. I don’t know. Anyway the Redbird fans are more and more aggressive, I guess it’s more and more difficult to find relevant reasons to defend them.

          2. I’m 100% sure that 99.9% of the claimed “RedBird-fans” are not here to root for RedBird but the club. E.g. I don’t care about the owners one bit. Even if Putin bought the team I’d still root for Milan because it’s about Milan and not about the owner(s) for me.

        2. To your comment below:

It’s not about who was right and who was wrong. It’s about praise and criticism based on what we’re presently seeing.

Management brought in a lot of good players, although without much of a plan how to integrate them in a functional system. That’s what a DS does – we don’t have that. We have Zlatan’s ego. That’s a mistake.

Management further brought a mediocre coach to lead players who want to win things – that’s alos a mistake. Call it like I see it.

But players have to be accountable as well. Can’t sulk and blame the coach. Not everything is on the management.

  4. Ah yes, I hope he rested and replenished his energy on a well deserved vacation after a Scudetto worthy mercato. Now he’s ready to go and be all smart and tough after leaving them in crysis. Good effort.

    1. Well… One could think grown ups could manage fine without Zlatan babysitting them and holding theirs hands but apparently people (Z included) was wrong. Cancel all the vacations because Theo & Leao needs someone to look after them.

  5. Zlatan is only talking without actually doing sht… it’s only a matter of time before players lose the respect for him. Fonsesca, Emerson and Morata … how was this gonna take the club to the next level? Theo or Leao will be sold next summer or position in January

  6. I’m still not sure what is Zlatan’s position exactly. If he’s supposed to be a motivator for the team, then going on vacation while an actual game is taking place and both players and coach are struggling to get it together, doesn’t sound like the wisest and most stiumulating message. Did he take part in the transfer dealings? In what capacity? So far it seems like he is only here to crack jokes and frown in the stands.

    1. You know guys what I like? The way all the cliques try to hide what happened. No fine from the club coz that would show there are big issues, Fonseca considers it closed also quoting Theo who basically said that there was no need for cooling break hence they just came on. Yet all the action of Abraham and whoever was the other player who came on that they did join up without “needing” a cooling break.

What’s also funny is that Fonseca said he didn’t even see that Theo and Leo didn’t join up(like the sole two black and red wearing players on the other side of the field is out of his view coz he is focused lol) .

Personally I am not surprised the media are milking this one, they supplied all the 🔥 needed and as of the board, isn’t Ibra part of it? That alone should raise questions so yeah…mind you me an outsider
