Tuttosport: Ibrahimovic pushing for Motta to Milan and aims to overtake Juve

By Isak Möller -

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is pushing for Thiago Motta to become the new manager of AC Milan, according to a report. The two know each other very well from their time at Paris Saint-Germain and the Swede now wants to overtake Juventus.

Stefano Pioli will leave Milan at the end of the season and work is currently ongoing to identify his replacement. Sergio Conceicao appears to be a strong candidate, just like Paulo Fonseca, but Thiago Motta is also on the list.

As reported by Tuttosport this morning (via MilanNews), Motta was the first manager that Milan probed in December when Pioli struggled with the team. Contacts were made, but nothing advanced, and then Pioli managed to turn things around.

The Rossoneri’s positive form in the league allowed Juventus to swoop in and open talks with Motta, now clearly in the lead in the race. Ibrahimovic is pushing for Motta’s arrival, having played with him at PSG, and he know aims to overtake the Bianconeri in the race.

Milan will make an attempt for Motta, presenting their project and explaining how he would be at the core, but precautions have been taken by initiating contact with other candidates as well. Should it be too late for the Bologna man, in other words, then there are options.

  1. Allegri already said that he wasn’t going to resign. So is juve going to sack him and pay over 15m apparently to him and his team? Allegri reached all of their objectives so I don’t see how clear are they looking for a new manager. Milan might not even have to fight for motta with another team

    1. They been waiting for Pioli to win UEL… there are some people that still believe Milan is disrespecting Pioli for firing him now because he won one title a few years ago.Pioli should have been fired long time ago, yes he won a lucky title but every season Milan is being humiliated by Inter, no trofies won keep changing formations every time he lose one game, play the players in different positions… the management gave him way too many chances.

      1. he shouldve been fired last year tbh.. we didnt even make the champions leaugue on paper last year the only reason we played champions leaugue is bcs juve got a uefa ban. I knew since that game against Napoli where Rafa and Giroud got pissed at Pioli this would be his last season and rightfully so.

        1. Look at the league table.

          We finished 4th.

Stop talking down your team’s achievements.

It was perfectly valid to factor in Juve’s points deduction and focus on the champions league which saw the team reach the semi-finals.

          But still you moaned.

Good luck to the next sucker.

    2. 3 months ago we already had a manager who was meeting his season objectives.

Come to think of it we still do.

      But hey it’s football guess.

  2. I would also get Calafiori from Bologna. He would be very suitable as a defensive mildfielder. He paired with two good centre backs would be hard to break against.
