Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed out on Milan’s game against Sassuolo and in his absence, Rafael Leao played as the centre-forward. The Rossoneri struggled without the Swede and the lack of good alternatives was highlighted.
According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), it could get worse for Stefano Pioli as Ibrahimovic trained apart from the squad yesterday. In other words, he’s at risk for the game on Monday and should he miss it, it would a huge blow.
Milan will have a training session this afternoon and more information will come from it, as there could still be time for the 39-year-old to recover. However, it’s looking very difficult and in the meantime, Leao will have to prepare himself again.
Ibrahimovic has missed many games this season and it’s clear that the Rossoneri need to sign a striker in the summer, as they simply don’t have an alternative right now. Mario Mandzukic, meant to be the deputy, hasn’t impressed either (also injured a lot).
