Tuttosport: Jovic could start against Udinese despite adequate rest for Giroud

By Isak Möller -

Luka Jovic could play from the first minute in AC Milan’s clash against Udinese on Saturday evening, as a report claims. Olivier Giroud has had a full week to rest since his brace against Napoli, but that has nothing to do with the decision on Saturday.

Milan need to bounce back with a win on Saturday, following the disappointing 2-2 draw away at Napoli. Giroud was the protagonist in that game with two great goals but he might not play from start against Udinese.

According to Tuttosport (see photo below), Pioli could give Jovic the chance from start as the Serbian needs to show his qualities. Nothing has been decided yet, it’s worth pointing out, but the decision to bench Giroud could have to do with the crucial game against PSG next week.

Both games are very important and it remains to be seen what decision the head coach will make in the end. Saturday’s game is scheduled for 20:45 CET and despite the recent form, another good attendance figure is expected.

  1. Pioli hasn’t learned from last season. This is how you drop points. Start with your strongest lineup, get ahead by a couple goals THEN bring in subs.

Instead, Pioli starts with the B team, goes scoreless into 70th minute and then tries to bring in the stars ABD get the result…

Never learns… we dropped many points like this last season.

    1. If there is one thing we know about Pioli it’s that he does not learn from his mistakes. Milan under Pioli is the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results.

  2. Yes I agree start with the strongest squad ,,and then if 2 goals to the good ,.then of course make substitutions.. We have to be careful as we need to definitely win this game ..

  3. This game should be one of the last few games to determine whether jovic is really ready to deputise for Giroud, or he is still a redundant footballer. I hope he delivers

  4. Do people still think Milan can get to the next round of the UCL? Pioli already botched it with his tactics – or lack of it in the first two games, at least. 2 points and 0 goals from 3 games.

Better concentrate on Serie A, before they slip further down on the table.

  5. Pls NO Jovic….he is useless sorry to say.

Huge miss by management not getting a real #9 and leaving our most important position to Jovic. Terrible.

At least play Okafor there – but pls no Jovic.
