Tuttosport: Pioli forced to have faith in unusual midfield tandem for Spezia clash

By Isak Möller -

There isn’t just a defensive crisis at AC Milan and that will become clear in their game against Spezia on Monday evening. In fact, the midfield tandem will consist of Tiemoue Bakayoko and Rade Krunic.

The likes of Ismael Bennacer, Franck Kessie and Sandro Tonali are all unavailable for the Rossoneri’s game on Monday. The former two are on international duty at the AFCONs, while the Italian youngster is serving a suspension.

As highlighted by Tuttosport (via MilanNews), therefore, Stefano Pioli will field Bakayoko and Krunic in the midfield tandem. It’s a tandem that hasn’t been tested before and it will be interesting to see how they will get on.

Krunic, of course, isn’t really a deep-lying midfielder and while Bakayoko is, he hasn’t been able to impress that much this season. In order for Milan to fight for the Scudetto, though, the two will have to step up and get the job done.

  1. 2 worse players, playing in two of the most important positions on the pitch, hopefully Pioli tells Theo and Florenzi to pinch the middle a little and force Spezia to advance on the sidelines….Baka automatically backs off afraid of confrontation, good midfielders like Tonali are proactive…….as previously said “Oh Boy!”
