AC Milan boss Stefano Pioli could give a rest to Olivier Giroud in tomorrow night’s game against Lazio, according to a report.
A lot was written about Giroud’s World Cup campaign from mid-November onwards as he led France all the way to the final of the tournament where they eventually lost to Argentina, meaning he and Theo Hernandez rejoined the squad just before the new year.
The result is that Giroud is on his longest goal drought since he joined Milan as his last goal for the Rossoneri dates back to the match against Spezia on 5 November 2022, meaning he has gone six games without scoring.
According to today’s edition of Tuttosport (via MilanNews), Pioli is thinking of giving Giroud a rest tomorrow night against Lazio. If the Frenchman were to start from the bench, the centre-forward role would be filled by one of either Ante Rebic and Divock Origi, who both recently came back from respective injuries.
Resting the only player of capable scoring against a direct competitor. Yeeeeah, that sound like a gooooood plan. Let’s count on Origi to perform, shall we? And CDK too. I bet that duo would score at least 5 if they were in the starting 11.
Good luck Origi, Ante.. show them what you guys can do
The man to start is none other than Olivier Giroud.
Inside the 18 yard area there is simply no one better than him …if balls are delivered to him ,he will score goals ,technically he is the best that we have ..now is not the time to rest him …
