AC Milan vs. Atalanta: Pre-Match Notes

By SempreMilan -

In preparation for the massive test against Atalanta at the San Siro on Saturday, Sky Italia and the Gazzetta dello Sport have reported the possible lineup changes to Montella’s side.

Carlos Bacca and Giacomo Bonaventura both returned to full training with the squad, and will both be available for Saturday’s match.

However, surprisingly, Gazzetta is reporting that the Colombian, Bacca is the favourite to start at striker over still in-form Gianluca Lapadula.

The all-important Bonaventura looks to draw in to the starting lineup as well, filling in the void in the left midfield spot. (GDS)

This is the projected lineup from the Gazzetta.

AC Milan (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Abate, Paletta, Romagnoli, De Sciglio; Kucka, Bertolacci, Bonaventura; Suso, Bacca, Niang.

Sky reported earlier today that Montella will be giving young regista Manuel Locatelli a rest as well, as he is one booking away from missing the Supercoppa next Friday. With this, Andrea Bertolacci will get a chance to shine once again in the spot, with Kucka and either Bonaventura or Pasalic completing the centre of the park.

Sky also mentioned that there is a small possibility of ‘Super Jack’ Bonaventura taking Niang’s spot on the left side.

Mattia De Sciglio may also be starting on the bench with Luca Antonelli replacing him.

Here’s the projected lineup from Sky:

AC Milan (4-3-3): Donnarumma; Abate, Paletta, Romagnoli, Antonelli; Kucka, Bertolacci, Bonaventura/Pasalic; Suso, Lapadula, Niang/Bonaventura.
