Boban on Giampaolo’s subs against Genoa: “We did not interfere with his decisions”

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan director Zvonomir Boban has insisted that the club’s leadership did not interfere with Marco Giampaolo’s tactics in the win against Genoa.

The Rossoneri went into the break 1-0 down at the Marassi after Pepe Reina – in for the ill Gianluigi Donnarumma – spilled a Lasse Schone free kick.

We revealed on Sunday that the poor first half almost cost Giampaolo his job as the club were ready to sack him.

Instead, the ex-Sampdoria boss decided to bring on Lucas Paqueta and Rafael Leao in a double change, and both proved to be instrumental in a dramatic comeback win.

Sky Italia reported that Boban is the one who has the most problems with Giampaolo, and La Gazzetta dello Sport‘s Nicolo Schira claimed he disagrees with the coach’s tactics – including not playing Paqueta and Leao.

However, La Stampa (via MilanNews.it) quotes the Croatian as saying: “We did not interfere with Giampaolo’s decisions.”
