Calabria exalts Giroud after Panathinaikos win and admits Milan are ‘missing someone’

By Isak Möller -

AC Milan secured a win in their final game of the pre-season and Davide Calabria was one of the standout performers. Bursting down the right-hand side of the pitch, the Italian international got an assist to his name.

As a result of the win tonight, the Rossoneri can look back at the pre-season with the current stats in mind: six games, three wins, zero defeats, 14 goals scored and two goals conceded. Not bad for Stefano Pioli’s men, in other words.

Tonight, which you can read more about in our tops and flops piece, Calabria was one of the better players for Milan. Speaking to Sky Italia after the game, as cited by MilanNews, he had many good things to say about the performance and also Giroud.

“I’m happy with my performance and the team, we hope it will be a good starting point to hopefully start the season in the right way. Milan’s goal is to do better than last year, when we had a season that no one expected, apart from us.

“Giroud is a great player. He has won a lot in his career and we just have to find the right pace with him. He’s an established player, I don’t have to talk about him much: he was what we were looking for. It was important that he scored and we are also waiting for Ibra: having such a couple of forwards can only do us good,” he stated.

The right-back was also asked about the transfer market and how the club has moved fast on the priorities this summer. He did, however, admit that the team is still ‘missing someone’.

“Not having changed manager is a positive fact because we can carry on the work we have done in recent months, the mentality and the game we have. The club has moved well, in advance, though someone is still missing. But anyway, we are all doing well,” he stated.

  1. You are really a funny Giroud hero hahahaha ..against Panathinaikos a team that is very weak and in the rank of Serie B. You are a very funny journalist when you conclude like that.Giroud is a slow and bad player.Rebic can not keep a single ball in possession for 5 seconds.Salamankers and Calabria were very bad that their Panathinaikos players were always fast. Milan seemed confused and disorganized for 15 minutes. I am afraid that the match against Samdoria will be very difficult because Milan showed against Nice and Valencia that they are not ready against slightly stronger teams. not good.

  2. Maldini get Nikola Vlasic signed so that Milan will have attacking false and fast also, not quantity players but quality we need, so that Milan can compete.
