Milan secured their return to Champions League on the final matchday after seven long years out of the esteemed competition. Next season will be very exciting for the Rossoneri, in other words, who now will face the best.

It’s safe to say that Stefano Pioli and his men discovered their second-place finish, getting the job done even in the toughest moments. The win against Atalanta highlighted this so well, as it was a perfect game from the Rossoneri tactically.

In an interview with SportWeek (via MilanNews), which was published this morning, Davide Calabria spoke about the season and also about the Champions League. He revealed that he wants Milan to draw Barcelona in the competition.

“In every difficult moment, we reacted well. I was sure we would make it. It would be nice to face Leo Messi, because I think he is the strongest ever. It would be nice to play against him in an AC Milan-Barcelona, like in the old days.”

It remains to be seen what opponents the Rossoneri will have in the group stage and if they will make it through to the knockout phase. Either way, as already stated, it will be exciting to watch from a fan perspective.
