Calhanoglu: “Gattuso changed me; he told me I’m free of pressure”

By Oliver Fisher -

Hakan Calhanoglu has become the latest AC Milan player to heap praise upon coach Gennaro Gattuso.

The Turkey international joined from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer, and initially struggled to adapt to Serie A under Vincenzo Montella, but has found form since Gattuso took the helm.

“Gattuso changed me,” admitted Calhanoglu to Calciomercato.it.

“He talks to me so much and tells me to play free of pressures in my mind. He’s a great Coach, and has changed the mentality of the club.”

The Rossoneri went to extra-time and penalties against Lazio on Wednesday night; Alessio Romagnoli scoring the winning spot-kick after eight rounds of the shootout.

“After beating Roma here on Sunday, it was tough to play 120 minutes. Both sides played well and when it comes to penalties, anything can happen.”
