Cassano discusses ‘exciting weekend’ as Atalanta and Milan should secure UCL early

By Isak Möller -

Milan are on the verge of returning to the Champions League as a win tomorrow, provided that Atalanta beat Genoa today, will suffice to make it official. Their former player, Antonio Cassano, believes they will make it.

The Rossoneri are three points ahead of Juventus and also have H2H advantage thanks to the big win at Allianz Stadium. Therefore, regardless of the Bianconeri’s result against Inter, a win will be enough as long as Atalanta win/draw.

Atalanta’s result still matters as Milan want to rule out any scenario where they finish level on points with the Bergamo side and Juventus. If so, they would be behind in the ‘mini-league’ created but that outcome isn’t very likely.

Speaking on Bobo Vieri’s Twitch channel, as cited by MilanNews, former Milan and Inter man Cassano spoke about the weekend. He believes that both Atalanta and the Rossoneri will secure their spot in the UCL already this round.

“Milan, if they win on Sunday, mathematically they are in. I think Sunday we will already see Atalanta and Milan in the Champions League. Napoli will go to Florence where they will find a Fiorentina already saved, while Juventus will face Inter. It will be an exciting weekend,” he stated.
