CM: Milan cast eyes towards Inter target Lucas Lima

By Oliver Fisher -

Occasions to bring players from Brazil to Serie A are few and far between due to the bureaucratic nature of the way clubs in South America operate.

Players bound by contracts which are split between clubs, companies and sometimes, even family. There could however, be an opportunity on the horizon for Milan, who have been made aware of Santos’s attacking midfielder Lucas Lima.

The 26-year-old’s agent, Edson Khodor, has been stating that the Rossoneri wanted his client in August but that the fee involved was excessive. Now the situation is changing with the Brazilian giants.

The player himself, we are told is negotiating a new deal at the club until 2019 but with a clause that could eventually lead him to Europe. Lima himself has always stated of his desire to play in one of European football’s top championships and now it seems that if someone is prepared to table a €20million offer, he could be granted his wish.

The player’s entourage have proposed to Santos that the clause should be €15million and negotiations appear to be progressing well. On any potential sale, around 33% would be shared in equal parts between Santos, Lima’s family and Doyen Sports (the same situation as with Gabigol).

The Brazilian international almost arrived at Inter 18 months ago with the plan having been to loan him to Chievo due to the fact that he did not have an EU passport, but Lima was not prepared to accept this scenario.
