CorSport: Pioli smiles as healthy competition emerges at Milan after Udinese win

By Isak Möller -

Brahim Diaz and Ante Rebic were the protagonists for AC Milan in their 4-2 win against Udinese last night. The pair have bounced back after a tough last season, much to the delight of Stefano Pioli.

Many have criticised Milan for their business on the transfer market this summer, with a centre-back and midfielder seemingly needed. Regardless of that, though, Pioli has made it clear from the start that he wants a competitive squad.

As reported by Corriere Dello Sport (via MilanNews), last night’s clash proved that there is indeed competition in the squad. It will be hard to bench Rebic after his performance but at the same time, Olivier Giroud is eager to play after a great pre-season.

And as for Diaz, Charles De Ketelaere came off the bench and looked very promising yesterday. The same can be said for Divock Origi, who replaced Rafael Leao who really didn’t reach his highest level.

The healthy competition has emerged after just one game, in other words, and this is indeed a luxurious problem for Pioli.
