AC Milan are relying on three of their protagonists in tomorrow’s game against Napoli, as each will be required to fulfil a certain tactical duty.
La Gazzetta dello Sport have highlighted a player in each phase who will be crucial for Milan in the top of the table clash, starting with Davide Calabria. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia already has four goals and two assists in his eight games in 2022-23 so the full-back will have to watch the runs both inside and to the byline, with Ismael Bennacer also required to tuck in and cover.
Then the paper look at the midfield battle which pits Bennacer and Sandro Tonali against Piotr Zielinski, Stanislav Lobotka and Andre-Frank Anguissa. The Italian midfielder can cause issues by pushing up to form a 4-1-4-1 of sorts as he has been doing in recent weeks, with Bennacer sliding over to cover in the regista role as we highlighted as well.
Finally, the big game man Olivier Giroud will face a battle against Kim and Rrahmani in the Napoli defence. To assist the Frenchman, Theo Hernandez will make direct runs both down the middle of the field and from wide on the left, with Charles De Ketelaere playing off Giroud at times and Junior Messias making runs inside the box to support the centre-forward.
