Di Marzio rules out coexistence between Maldini and Rangnick at Milan

By Isak Möller -

In recent weeks, there have been many rumours about Ralf Rangnick taking over AC Milan for next season. Of course, this is something that the current management hasn’t appreciated, given that the season is still ongoing.

As we called it in our latest podcast episode, it has certainly been a war of words between Paolo Maldini and the German manager. The reason? The latter has been linked with a role that will give him full control as a manager (head coach and director).

Therefore, the most likely hypothesis remains that Maldini will leave the club after the season, based on the latest reports. Speaking live on Sky Italia last night (via MilanNews.it), Gianluca Di Marzio was asked about the situation.

“A final decision hasn’t been made, but if the owners decide to go with Rangnick, I don’t see how the two can collaborate together, beyond the declarations that Rangnick is making and that Maldini wanted to stop with his words.

“If the pact sanctioned in December will be maintained in the end, and Rangnick will become the Milan manager, how will he be able to work with Maldini?” he concluded.

According to today’s edition of Gazzetta Dello Sport, a decisive summit between Rangnick and Elliott has been scheduled to discuss the imminent youth project. Until then, we will have to wait and see with regards to Maldini’s future.
