Torino have launched a bid to hijack Atalanta’s move for Milan defender Diego Laxalt, according to a report.
The club confirmed on Monday that they have terminated the contract of Ivan Strinic, and it appears Laxalt is also heading for the exit, as Paolo Maldini recently indicated to reporters.
La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira stated on his Twitter account on Tuesday that a decision from the Uruguay international regarding his future is set to arrive on Tuesday.
The journalist added that Laxalt is not convinced by the idea of a move to Atalanta, something which has given other sides hope, namely Ligue 1 side Marseille.
Now, the reliable Gianluca Di Marzio has offered his take on the situation via his official website, by claiming the a number of clubs are interested in the 26-year-old.
Torino are the latest club to join the race and Di Marzio states that they have even begun talks with his agent in the last few hours, and are set to start discussions with Milan over a deal imminently.
The agent of Laxalt is then expected at Casa Milan on Wednesday to take stock of the situation, the report adds, while for Torino qualification for the Europa League could be huge for their hopes of signing Laxalt.
The Granata currently trail Wolves 3-2 on aggregate ahead of Thursday’s second leg at Molineux.
