Diaz describes ‘deserved’ win and praises Milan fans: “It looked like San Siro”

By Isak Möller -

It was a special match for Brahim Diaz this evening, being on loan from Real Madrid, as AC Milan claimed all three points away at Atletico Madrid. He did well on the pitch and he was very happy afterwards.

The Spaniard showed glimpses of the player we admired so much before he got Covid-19 and subsequently struggled physically. The display earned him a 6.5/10 in our player ratings and it would’ve been a lot better if the final touch wasn’t lacking.

In an interview with MilanTV after the game, as cited by MilanNews, Diaz discussed the win of the Rossoneri. There was a considerable amount of Milan fans present at the stadium and the No.10 took the opportunity to thank them.

What emotions do you have?

“Super happy, we deserved it. We deserved everything we did on the pitch, we took advantage of this situation. We deserve it as well as we deserved the first leg.”

On the stadium…

“It looked like San Siro, incredible (laughs, ed). I am grateful to all our fans, their support is incredible and they deserve this victory.”

How does little Brahim dominate against the giants of Atletico?

“I play my football, I do what I do best. I like to play, I’m very happy for the win. I enjoyed it, playing football is fun.”

On the possibility of qualification…

“Now we have won this match deservedly, we would have deserved more in this group. Now we have a final match against a great team ahead of us. We want to win and then see what happens.”

How can you picture San Siro against Liverpool?

“I can imagine, the fans are always like tonight. We need them, it will be fine with them.”

The win means Milan still have a chance of advancing to the knockout phase of the competition. They need to win the game against Liverpool and Porto-Atletico must end in a draw or a win for the latter.
