The Derby Della Madonnina will take place this evening and it’s safe to say that there is a lot of excitement in the air. It’s a game that AC Milan cannot afford to lose to remain in a good position in the Scudetto race.

A derby is never easy and recent form usually goes out the window for this clash, but there is no doubt that the standings will affect the affairs. The Rossoneri, as said, should be very disappointed if they lose tonight.

The Italian papers obviously had a field day with the game on their respective front pages. Gazzetta Dello Sport wrote the following: “Inter-Milan, it’s Scudetto festival. Nerazzurri to escape and eliminate their rivals from the title race. The Rossoneri are without Ibra, but with Leao and Giroud they can get closer”.

Tuttosport had a similar headline about the game: “It’s worth everything! Inter-Milan at high tension. Inzaghi wants to confirm the escape, Pioli to fuel the ambitions of the season”.

Corriere Dello Sport, meanwhile, also highlighted the fact that the San Siro pitch has been relaid for this clash: “The San Siro final. Milan derby: 38 thousand spectators, the pitch has been relaid, it’s the Scudetto festival”.

Finally, QS also had a Sanremo-esque remark about tonight’s derby: “The San Siro festival. At 6 pm Inter-Milan: If Inzaghi wins they are halfway to the Scudetto”.
