Nocerino skeptical about Kessie as a No.10: “He and Boateng are completely different”

On the eve of the clash between AC Milan and Inter, tension is rising as the Scudetto race could more or less be decided by the game. At the very least, it’s a clash that means a lot for both sides and that makes it interesting.

With a win, Inter would be seven points clear of Milan and that is with a game in hand, which is a gap that won’t be easy to make up. The Rossoneri thus need to get at least a draw from tomorrow’s clash.

In an interview with Calciomercato.com, former Milan player Antonio Nocerino spoke about the decision to start Franck Kessie as the No.10. There have been some comparisons with Kevin-Prince Boateng’s position but the Italian shut that down completely.

A tactical choice has already been made by Pioli who intends to field Kessie as an attacking midfielder…

“I don’t know if Kessie will really play from the first minute but I can understand it in the sense that it will certainly be a very physical match and we need people who can make themselves felt in certain areas of the pitch. In this case, Diaz will have to prepare for the match as if he was starting: the former Real Madrid player can become important when the match is underway.”

Could it become a Scudetto move like Allegri in 2010 when he decided to exclude Ronaldinho in favour of attacking midfielder Boateng?

“I played at Milan the year after the Scudetto and, therefore, I can tell you that Boateng and Kessie are completely different. Kevin was a devastating player on the frontline, he had explosiveness that allowed him to split the games. A force of nature with great feet. It was an intelligent tactical reading by Allegri but I think my former teammate had more characteristics of an attacking player than Kessie, who remains more of a midfielder.”

The choice doesn’t convince you…

“Let’s see how it goes and if the decision will be confirmed, I’m just saying that I don’t see it as a long-term move but more for a single match.”

As opposed to an attacking solution, Kessie as the trequartista is probable more a defensive move as he will be all over Marcelo Brozovic. The latter is a very important player for Inter in the build-up and disrupting him how could prove successful.

  1. The King always makes the Prince.
He was devastating because of Zlatan, before and after he planer with Zlatan he was more ha pawn than a Prince.

  2. I’m asking the question where is Rebi he is the only player that can win this game, I believe in him, he can do everything.
