AC Milan Women will face Juventus in the final of Supercoppa Italiana this afternoon, having beaten Roma by two goals to one to get there. It’s a big game for the Rossonere, spurred on by the club’s CEO.
In an interview with LA7, as cited by MilanNews, Ivan Gazidis was asked about the game and he also discussed the format of the competition (the first time it’s held). He also made it clear that women’s football is the future.
On the game…
“We have experienced a difficult period in the world, even for the girls. Our warriors are fighting, focusing on this important match. It is another step forward for our women. For Milan, women’s football is the future.”
On the competition format…
“These events are very important for the growth of women’s football, and these final fours have an intensity, a focus that is needed in women’s football,” he stated.
The game will kick off in just a few minutes (at the time of writing), scheduled for 14:30 CET. Hopefully, the Rossonere will come away with what would be a very important triumph for them.
There has been a lot of talk about the transfer market lately, with regards to the women’s team, and you can read all the latest updates here. Indeed, there has already been some movement this month.
