Ignazio Abate has been a loyal servant to Milan, playing ten seasons for the club. His contract is set to expire on June 30th and Milan have no intentions of renewing the player.
According to Nicolo Shira of Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian full back could be reunited with a former coach. Mihaljovic’s Bologna are in pole position.
Shira also stated that the Greek league runner-ups, Olympiacos have also offered Ignazio a spot on their roster. Another team interested from abroad is Olympique Lyonnais from France who think Abate could help them in their campaign as well.
Earlier in the month it was reported by Di Marzio that Abate was in talks with newly promoted Serie A side Lecce.
Abate will be a welcomed addition to any club that he joins. He was a loyal servant who played a critical role in Milan over the last decade and he will be missed.
