GdS: Maldini dynasty as Daniel gets well-deserved call from Italy and Spalletti

Having left the club to join Monza this summer, Daniel Maldini is no longer a part of AC Milan. However, the Maldini name will always be synonymous with the Rossoneri and as such, it’s great news to see him in the national team.

As highlighted by today’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport (see photo below), the call-up is truly something special. The Maldini dynasty in the national team started with the defender Cesare Maldini, who made 14 appearances and then coached the team for 20 games in the late 90s.

The story continued with Cesare’s son Paolo, the most complete defender of them all, who made 126 appearances and scored seven goals for the team. And now the attacking midfielder Daniel, the son of Paolo and grandson of Cesare, will establish the dynasty in the national team.

Having said that, Daniel hasn’t just been called up because of his family. Luciano Spalletti had been thinking about the call-up for a long time and after the success with Monza, it was a no-brainer for the manager to include the 22-year-old.

Milan might end up regretting letting him go for free in the summer, inserting a 50% resale clause instead of demanding a fee from Monza. Perhaps he could even come back to the club in the future, given said clause.

  1. Plizzari

    Bellanova Darmian Cristante De Sciglio

    Verdi Brescianini Locatelli Maldini

    Petagna Cutrone

A starting 11 of former youth players many playing for our rivals.

Cue they’re all sh*t. The hundreds of players we signed instead who are no longer at the club and who we won nothing with are soooooo much better.

I refuse to learn anything. More transfers please.

    1. Even spaletti had been thinking about the call-up maldini for a long time.

This is cardinale milan, full of foreign. We might add another american player, cardoso as defensive midfielder.

  2. It was really amazing to discard someone like him, he is technically and tactically brilliant, has a very wonderful physique, has vision and speed, and you go out and get people like Chukweze…amazing…

  3. A prohibited last name in club’s premises infortunately. Don’t worry we’ll soon see someone like Chukwuemeka or Rios filling in. They don’t fit? Doesn’t matter, we just need them to punch a bit above their weight and we’ll ship em out for a profit soon.

Oh, and we expect trophies as well. So better get going Fonzie.

      1. Why are you even replying? It doesn’t concern you and if you have no constructive reply scroll further. If you’re irritated, I don’t care it’s your problem, again scroll further.

  4. And someone like Loftus took his place who doesn’t even fits the position. So much from the Cardinale fans saying that we cant get Italians cause they are either not good enough or too expansive. Lol you got worse and more expensive players in the team now, while you let go better and far cheaper players.

    1. And Pep and his crew must be drinking or something cause why would they want a subpar Ricci from a subpar Italian generation?

  5. Good for Maldini, but after watching him, all he has is a good shot on him. That’s about it. Hopefully he can carry his weight with the Nazionale.

    1. One shot is we need most times. He has a habit if scoring important goals. Knows how to show up in big games, has potential, is intelligent with the ball.

  6. He is italian so he doesnt fit for Milan as some idiots saying that Italia nazionale sucks, that means its okay to get player from US,Nigeria,Serbia etc which is not doing any better than Italy lmfao the sheer stupidity of these so called fans
