GdS: Milan could beat Spurs to signing of €20m goalkeeper – why they are ahead

By Isak Möller -

Gigio Donnarumma’s contract will expire at the end of the season and Milan are struggling in the renewal talks with Mino Raiola. Therefore, just to be safe, they have started to look at potential replacements on the market.

One of the players on their wish list, as reported by Gazzetta Dello Sport (via MilanLive), is Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan. The 25-year-old has a price tag of €20m and as his contract will expire in 2022, there could be a discount.

In addition to Milan, Tottenham are also evaluating the signing of Frenchman as they are expected to part ways with Hugo Lloris in the summer. However, even though Donnarumma remains the priority, the Rossoneri are ahead for Maignan.

They have excellent relations with Lille as Milan owners Elliott Management supported the French side with a loan a few years back. This shouldn’t be underestimated, in addition to the fact that the Rossoneri could play in the Champions League next season.
