AC Milan look set to be disappointed in their potential pursuit of Luciano Spalletti to replace Marco Giampaolo, according to a report.
The Rossoneri have made their worst start to a Serie A campaign in over 80 years having lost four out of their first six, something which has only happened twice previously in the club’s history.
As such, speculation is rife that Saturday’s game against Genoa represents a last chance saloon for Giampaolo to save his job, with a number of possible replacements mentioned.
Rudi Garcia, Andriy Shevchenko, Gennaro Gattuso, Roberto Donadoni and Claudio Ranieri have all been linked, while contact was reportedly made with Max Allegri, as per Mediaset.
However, there have also been reports that Milan consider Luciano Spalletti a ‘dream option’ given his track record of having finished in the top four in each of his last four seasons (two with Roma, two with Inter).
It was even claimed by journalist Bruno Longhi that Spalletti would accept an offer to coach Milan if it arrived, despite the fact he is currently on a break.
However, La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nicolo Schira has confirmed via his Twitter account that there is not only Milan who have shown interest, as the Ecuador national team and a Chinese club have also made offers.
The coach wants to take the season off and restart again ahead of the 2020-21 season, so it looks like the Diavolo will be disappointed.
#calciomercato
