MN: From Hauge and Duarte to Caldara and Adli – how Milan’s nine loanees are fairing

By Oliver Fisher -

AC Milan have several players out on loan who are hoping to continue their development before fighting for a space in the squad and/or the starting line-up.

The likes of Tommaso Pobega and Yacine Adlì are expected to come back and be part of the plans, while there are doubts about some younger players. MilanNews have provided a round-up of how each is getting on.

Alessandro Plizzari: After missing the first half of the season following surgery, he was sent on loan to Lecce where he played the last three games as a starter, conceding three goals and having only one clean sheet. He will return to Milanello in June to discuss his future with the management.

Mattia Caldara: He seems to have found his best physical condition after being sent on loan to Venezia. The former Atalanta man also has a goal and an assists, and they can buy him permanently for €4m if they choose to do so, with no indications either way at the moment.

Leo Duarte: The centre-back has also found continuity in Turkey with Basaksehir, collecting 26 appearances. The Brazilian was allowed to leave on loan with an option to buy.

Nikolaos Michelis: His season seemed to have started well with Willem II, but a series of consecutive games on the bench interrupted the growth path of the Greek central, who has not played since 6 February 2022. He was also sold on loan with option to buy.

Tommaso Pobega: With 4 goals and 2 assists in 26 appearances – 19 of which were starts – Pobega’s development continues. Maldini and Massara believe in him and want him to be part of the plans for next season.

Marco Brescianini: The former Rossoneri Primavera captain is finding little playing time at Monza having got on the field only six times this season.

Yacine Adlì: He was bought permanently last summer and remained on loan for a year at Bordeaux, who are in last place with only 22 points. Adli has 29 appearances, with one goal and seven assists, even wearing the armband.

Jens Petter Hauge: Maldini and Massara reached an agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt for the sale of the Norwegian winger, who moved to Eintracht Frankfurt on loan with obligation to buy under certain conditions. Should these conditions be fulfilled (avoiding relegation), Milan would make a net capital gain.

Lorenzo Colombo: The teenager has 28 appearances, 6 goals and 1 assist on loan at SPAL and while his dream is to return and earn a spot in the squad, evaluations will be made in the summer.
