GdS: The key figures making themselves heard in build-up to crucial Atalanta game

By Oliver Fisher -

Preparations are underway at Milanello for Sunday’s huge game against Atalanta, which would put Milan one point away from capturing the title if they win.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport (via MilanNews) this morning, there are efforts being made to calm the nerves of the younger players, many of whom are experiencing a league title push for the first time.

In addition to keeping the same rituals and routines at Milanello, the presence of the experienced players is also helping as most of them have already experienced these situations many times in their career.

Stefano Pioli is relying on Zlatan Ibrahimovic, because even though the Swede undergoes an individual training program for most of the week given the delicate condition of his knee, he still talks to his team-mates all the time, exactly as he does from the bench during games.

The constant presence of the management at Milanello also helps, especially when the technical director is called Paolo Maldini, who often finds himself talking with the squad and with Pioli himself about the games coming up.

Captain Alessio Romagnoli also makes himself felt in the dressing room despite the fact he hasn’t played as much recently, and Davide Calabria – the Rossoneri’s vice-captain – is particularly vocal too.
