Mancini suggests Tonali will leave Italy camp: “He is not doing well”

By Oliver Fisher -

Italy manager Roberto Mancini has confirmed that Sandro Tonali is likely to be sent back to Milanello due to being in bad condition.

Roberto Mancini’s comments about Tonali arriving to training camp with a ‘problem’ caused alarm on Monday, given that left-back Theo Hernandez has sustained an adductor problem and will therefore miss the two matches that France will play while Davide Calabria will also require rest over the break.

Mixed reports then emerged regarding the possibility of Tonali playing against England on Friday night with Sky reporting yesterday that he was likely to start, but more worrying news came through this morning about his condition.

Speaking at the press conference on the eve of Italy-England, Mancini spoke about situation relating to Tonali who was absent from today’s final training session before the game, with his comments relayed by MilanNews.

“Tonali never trained with us, we tried to get him back for Budapest but he is not doing well and I think we will send him back home,” he said.

  1. This is bad. We’re back at last autumn when we almost had no team to field. It’s good that we have good back ups this year. But the return of Bakayoko is inching closer…

  2. Agree with Forza… Vranckx looked good in that action against Sampdoria when we were down a man.

And Krunic definitely played DM for us last year when we had injury issues. He’s so versatile.

    1. I don’t understand why people hate krunic so much, man has always been in his best and never complains even when I’m bench. Get the jobs done almost everytime albeit few mistakes here and there but I see him doing well anytime he is called up to play.
      Good lad IMO

      1. I really do not believe anyone has ever complained about krunic as a midfielder but krunic as a winger makes absolutely no sense.. may not do anything wrong there but neither does anything right
