AC Milan can take a huge step towards glory on Sunday evening if they can get all three points against Atalanta at the San Siro. Much of Stefano Pioli’s team picks itself but a change is expected in the starting XI.
The only change that Pioli is expected to make for this game compared to the team that started away at Hellas Verona, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, is that Rade Krunic will drop to the bench whilst Ismael Bennacer comes into midfield.
Against Verona, Krunic started behind Olivier Giroud and Franck Kessie dropped into the double pivot alongside Sandro Tonali.
Clearly favouring more defensive stability against a dangerous Atalanta side, Bennacer will play alongside Tonali and Kessie will be pushed further up the pitch.
If Milan take all three points from the 18:00 CEST kick off on Sunday, Inter will have to win against Cagliari in the following fixture to keep the title race alive.
Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Maignan; Calabria, Kalulu, Tomori, Hernandez; Bennacer, Tonali; Saelemaekers, Kessie, Leao; Giroud.
To think we made it this far without Kjaer and Romagnoli on the defense.
Atalanta may have defeated us 5-0 two years ago, but this loss is still fresh on my mind. Time for redemption.
Gonna hope Tonali gets on the score sheet on this one with a set piece.
Gotta good feeling about Saele, and Sandro …
Milan plays faster with Kessie behind the ball pushing the tempo
