AC Milan are working on other renewal situations after they confirmed the extension of Stefano Pioli’s contract today, a report claims.
MilanNews reports that Pioli’s deal is just the latest in what Milan hope will be a big batch, after Alexis Saelemaekers and Simon Kjaer also penned extensions earlier in the season. The management will continue to move in the next few days to try and secure the extension of the contracts of Theo Hernandez, Ismael Bennacer and Rafael Leao.
All three are on deals due to expire in 2024, but Milan have seen with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Hakan Calhanoglu that acting ahead of time is the wisest strategy, so they are willing to offer pay rises in order to lock down the most important players in the squad.
In terms of deals expiring in June 2022, the question linked to Franck Kessie is still complicated though and there is no substantial news regarding the Ivorian. Talks will be held with Mino Raiola over the extension of Alessio Romagnoli and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, for the latter towards the end of the season when more is known about his condition.
