Milan’s probable XI for derby clash against Inter as Ibrahimovic and Romagnoli return

By Isak Möller -

With the international break currently underway, football fans are eagerly awaiting the Milan derby between AC Milan and Inter. However, the respective squad situations are the main focus as of now.

The Rossoneri will have to do without two players, namely Leo Duarte and Matteo Gabbia, who have tested positive for COVID-19. Zlatan Ibrahimovic has recovered from the virus and it shouldn’t be ruled out that the Brazilian will recover as well for the game.

A lot can happen in a week’s time, though, as evidenced by the last few days. The Rossoneri’s probable starting XI is pretty obvious now that Ibrahimovic has recovered, as Pioli prefers to field his strongest players every game.

Obviously, since it’s a derby, this will be a must. Alessio Romagnoli is back in training and should replace Matteo Gabbia, while there will be a battle between Brahim Diaz and Rafael Leao for the final starting position in the trip up front.

The condition of Ante Rebic will also be evaluated, as the Croatian is recovering from his elbow dislocation. If he makes, then he should start on the left flank.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Romagnoli, Hernandez; Kessie, Bennacer; Saelemaekers, Calhanoglu, Diaz (Leao); Ibrahimovic.
