Davide Calabria could play from the first minute in AC Milan’s season opener against Bologna. The captain has recovered from his injury and Stefano Pioli could put him in the starting XI, a report claims.
Calabria recovered from his injury earlier this week but several reports, including the one from Corriere Dello Sport just this morning, suggested that Pierre Kalulu would start on the right-hand side. However, the captain might start after all.
According to MilanNews, Calabria is ready to grit his teeth and play from the first minute on Monday. As the captain of the team, he wants to be there and Pioli is willing to field him in the XI, meaning Kalulu likely will be on the bench.
Other than that, the XI should be the one we became used to during pre-season, with Christian Pulisic starting on the right flank. It will also be very interesting to see Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tijjani Reijnders in their first start in Serie A.
Probable Milan XI (4-3-3): Maignan; Calabria, Thiaw, Tomori, Theo Hernandez; Loftus-Cheek, Krunic, Reijnders; Pulisic, Giroud, Leao.
No need to rush him ffs. Heal properly
Pioli playing favourites like he always does … calabria belong on the bench whether he is fit or not !
I think if he’s forced to start it’s just that Milan just want to avoid fielding entirely 11 non-Italians for the first game of a new season. That’d be unprecedented.
