The AC Milan management have had time to think about the future of several players while the international break is in full flow.
The subject of expiring contracts is one of the hottest ones of the moment, with fanswaiting to see what happens to a number of star players, and MilanNews have provided an update on each player expiring in June below…
Gianluigi Donnarumma: Despite the player’s desire to remain in the Rossoneri, the economic demands of he and Raiola remain very high. He currently receives a salary of about €6m net per season and Milan’s current offer is €8m, including bonuses, and a five-year contract. This is seen as a very significant effort, especially given the effects of Covid, but Raiola instead asks for €10m, a release clause and a shorter contract.
Hakan Calhanoglu: The playmaker initially requested €7m net per year, who currently receives about €2.5m. The negotiations went on, and Milan’s latest offer is about €4m plus bonuses, the requests have dropped to €5.5m. In recent weeks there was a meeting between the player and the management to reaffirm the mutual desire to continue together.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic: Every time Ibra talks about Milan he does it with words of love. On and off the pitch he still makes a lot of difference, and a contract extension for another year at this point really seems just a formality.
Mario Mandzukic: He signed a six-month contract with an option for another year but has suffered lots of physical problems that mean he has been limited to just 158 minutes. After the international break, he could be back at the disposal of Mr. Pioli, but today it is difficult for him to renew. Final evaluations will only be made at the end of the season.
Antonio Donnaruma: He has a very high salary for a third-choice goalkeeper at €1m net, and to date there has never been any discussion of his possible extension. He is likely to leave at the end of the season.
