MN: Probable Milan XI for crucial Cagliari clash – Saelemaekers the only change

By Isak Möller -

Milan will take on Cagliari tomorrow evening and as Atalanta won against Genoa, and Juventus beat Inter, they will need a win to secure their spot in the Champions League. It’s thus the biggest game in many years.

The Rossoneri needed Atalanta to at least draw against Genoa this afternoon and the Bergamo side won 4-3. As a result, Stefano Pioli’s men have fate in their hands and can secure their UCL return with a win tomorrow.

As reported by MilanNews, Pioli will make just one change to the starting XI as Alexis Saelemaekers is back from suspension. He will start on the right-wing instead of Samu Castillejo, which is a boost for Milan.

Probable Milan XI (4-2-3-1): Donnarumma; Calabria, Kjaer, Tomori, Hernandez; Bennacer, Kessie; Saelemaekers, Diaz, Calhanoglu; Rebic.

The game is scheduled for 20:45 CEST tomorrow evening and although the positions will be decided in the final round, a top-four finish can at least be secured for the Rossoneri. We can only hope that they will come through.

  1. I only hope that they go on the pitch knowing that they haven’t finished yet. By reading on this website It might seem that we are qualified but we are not!!! stay focus on the game and show respect to the opponents. I don’t want to see another loss like Istanbul 2005 for the rest of my life…it’s a trauma

    1. We will quality when we win at Cagliari, even if we lose vs Atalanta, due to H2H over Juve if they reach us at 78. In this scenario, if Atalanta had lost earlier, we could have seen 3 teams at 78 and we lose CL. (In both sentences, we are assuming Napoli win its 2 games and end at 79.)
