Montella: “We are one piece away from really being able to improve”

By Claudio Perfetto -

AC Milan suffered another lost to a top team this past Saturday, losing away to Napoli 2-1. Manager Vincenzo Montella spoke to Milan TV about the match and the state of the Rossoneri, here is what he had to say:

His relationship with director Mirabelli: I am always evaluated, which is normal for a coach, but I have a great relationship with Mirabelli. Mirabelli, like the players, is rightfully upset after a loss.

On smiling after matches, even defeats: I sometimes hide my rage with a smile, but it doesn’t mean that I am not upset.

The Napoli match: “We lost to a very good team this weekend, yes we made some mistakes, but overall I think we put in a good performance. We will have to improve to beat the big teams but I am happy with the effort.”

On Suso: “Suso? We will evaluate him day by day.”

The upcoming fixtures against Austria Vienna and Torino: “Now we have two matches at the San Siro coming up. We must take one at a time. Austria is important for our Europa League knockout stage qualification, while Torino is important to start a comeback in the league.”

The transfer market and this season: “I think we can make up the points in the coming weeks, we are improving but it is slow. We are one piece away from being able to improve but we are working on it.”

National Team: “I did speak with Lippi. There was an exchange of ideas but not much more. Nothing concrete ever came.”
